Pickleball - the hottest paddle sport of all time!

What is it about Pickleball? Why has it steam rolled into the paddle sports arena and experienced supersonic growth - almost doubling in size in 1 year?

It's easy - the court is small, the ball is light, the paddle is manageable.

All backgrounds translate - You don't need to have been a professional tennis player. People come into pickleball with all types of sports backgrounds (or none at all) and it all translates. Grew up playing basketball? - the skills you developed defending, watching your opponent closely, leaning left or right before driving the lane...that's the same as watching your opponent over the net lean left, so you hit the ball right for a winner!

It's cheap - balls cost a buck, paddles can be had for $30 (but you can spend a lot more! :) and courts can be had for $0 if you play in the park.

It's great exercise - you hardly even realize you're getting a great cardio workout and burning calories (as many as 500 calories per hour) and it's soooo much more fun than running on the treadmill!

It's super social, friendly and open - in the sport of pickleball, it's not at all unusual that people will just show up at the courts and ask to play in - to be met with the answer of YES! And sometimes....sometimes....they show up without a ball or paddle or even the right shoes and often, with little knowledge of the rules - NO PROBLEM! Tell me another sport where this happens? Particularly a racquet sport? Do you see people walking onto the tennis court at the country club and asking for next game, or the even more Bougie ones like squash, or platform tennis or Padel? Pickleball started in a backyard and is just now making its way into clubs. It has a special and unique culture that has been an inspiration to many.

There are lot's of reasons why the sport has taken off and is growing like crazy. You're never a stranger on the pickleball court. Come play with us! There are lots of places to play, both indoors and outdoors, free and for a charge.
